jean pierre and luc dardenne's l'enfant opens at the crest this friday. the film was the second palme d'or for the belgian brothers, who also won with la promesse, a "gritty, gutwrenching" drama about a boy and his father.
lane at the new yorker is perhaps the only major critic to dump on the film. it's got an 85 percent 'cream of the crop' on rotten tomatoes. manohla gushed, ebert approved. go support good filmmaking and check it out.
