brother's keeper, election sleeper

i'm going to continue with bag on FFT's brother week. last night, the bro and his special lady, cb, and FFT opted to go where i personally hadn't been in a long, long time: blockbuster video. i pretty much despise the blckbstr, but i no longer have netflix and we desperately wanted to watch some films, err movies. we rented red eye and the new world. we wanted to rent wolf creek or hostel, but my brother is afraid of horror films.
seriously, he flat-out refused to rent the latter two films, and we were only able to persuade him to watch red eye because it's pg-13. wtf?
as for the film, it's quick, painless, amusing, well-crafted, taut and generally bearable. rachel mcadams is a watchable persona, and craven is at his most efficient.

as for the election, i stayed up till about 65 percent of the returns were in. what a bore, and a bummer. the only good news was that doolittle did not run away and only received 60-some-odd percent in his primary race. angelides won by 4.5 percent; if he runs on a tax increase, arnold will walk away with it in november. speier ended up getting crushed by garamendi. bilbray won 'the duke's' seat down south; so much for any backlash. and on the local front, scumbag mcginess beat brett daniels for sheriff. mcginess was on the evening news talking about how the department was "vindicated" by his landslide victory. great, now they'll just continue beating this shit out of people over at the county jail.

on a side note, tourists should head over to csus this saturday for the ncaa track and field championships. it's easily the most exciting sporting event in town each year, and you can get a nice tan to boot.
