manderlayter

i fell asleep last night while watching manderlay. i originally thought about bringing it home* for sn&r, but after viewing four of the eight chapters, i realize that's not going to be a possibility. you don't want this shit in your casa. i'll finish it tonight.

per my waffling on miami vice: i deleted this comment a few days back but figured i'd repost it here: "You ruined any credibility you had towards writing about movies. You suck.
Suck the dick than take your mouth out and realized you sucked the dick." i'm not so sure what the third sentence is all about, but i'm relieved to know that, at one point or another in my life, i was respectable critic of cinema and not just some bum dabbler or flaneur. oooh!

jzz saw scoop and sent this e-mail: "Scoop" was actually a cute little movie. not as bad as critics are making it out to be. but it's not a must-see in the theater. you do get to see scarlett
all wet in a bathing suit, though..."

all wet? i'm there!

record club* is tonight. the theme is duets. for those of you not in the know, this means i have to bring two songs that are duets. any suggs?

You know, a lot of people suck the dick and don't realize they sucked the dick afterwards. At least you realize it! I was supposed to fill that Bring It Home slot, but they never sent my Jayne Mansfield box set! Bullshit!

By the way, "Scoop" is all that bad and worse, bathing suit scene aside. However, as I said in my review, "Match Point" provides far superior Johansson tit-ogling fodder.

As for duets, I would suggest anything with Emmylou Harris, the best duet partner ever.

dude, i don't know. i was sitting there watching MV for the second time thinking "fuck, i don't even want to watch this any longer." and my buddy jz straight up walked out and left to go to the snack bar. he was in pain (of course, he's seen this film more than anyone except the mannnnnn himself).

evidently michael mann is universally loathed in the industry and is more or less considered a joke.

but lars, well, let me finish MANDERLAY before i rush to judgment and call him on the danish dick. i'm gonna mix* it.

i saw lovers/bridge back when i worked at the theatre in la. i was stoned; i don't remember.

has anyone seen RUSSIAN DOLLS?

i'm with Beckler - lars von trier is a hack. i will never see another movie by him.

i wasn't in that much pain when we saw Vice... i just needed a little break and some red vines. :) but yes, after watching it so many times, it can hurt. though in the biz we have a high (albeit required) tolerance for repeat viewings.

i'll say it again - "scoop" was fun. mindless popcorn fun, but what's wrong with that? and scarlett's in that bathing suit...
