spent half the weekend in sf chillin. watched the a's lose to baltimore in what you might say was one of oakland's worst defensive efforts of the season. scutaro dropped a line drive, payton missed a fly ball, perez gaffed a grounder and swisher didn't get to a ball at first down the line. unheard of. big frank went yard again, however, and he's making beane look like genius. we had great seats along the third base line 14 rows back but moved to the shade in the sixth--too much sun, beer and what-have-you.

quietly looking forward to the playoffs.

this photo is of my bro a top the roof of his apartment near sf state. you have to go out on the balcony, climb the fence and pull over the gutter to get up, then drop about 9 feet off the roof to get down. the view is worth it--plus you can do michael mann or chris doyle moves, if that's your bag. it's the colder, foggier side of the city--and admittedly is a bit of a pilgrimage from downtown--but it's a cool neighborhood with some glorious, unbikable hills.

Haven't you heard? Billy Beane IS a genius. Big Frank is just the latest example. I would love to see what a wanker like Brian Cashman would do with the A's paltry budget. The team would sink like a stone.
