the most disturbing thing i saw this weekend was ryan powdrell, usc's starting fullback, fracturing his ankle and dislocating/breaking his fibula on saturday. he was tackled, brought down and immediately grimaced and screamed in agony: his foot was detached and his was pointing at a 90-degree angle to the right.

this is one of the worst football injuries i'd ever seen on live tv.

here's a link to x-rays that show the extent of the injury. the worse thing is that because he dislocated his ankle, it's going to take forever to build up the strength to run and be able to support his body weight.
