$23 million over two years

Sports Illustrated is reporting that the Blue Jays offer to Big Frank is for $23 million over two years. Yeah, well, this is a bit more than the two-year, $14 million Beane offered upon the conclusion of the 2006 season.

Yeah, well, if this is in fact true, then I imagine it's adios Big Frank ... which is for the better. I don't think it's wise for Oakland to pony up $11.5 million a year for Frank, who is only productive one out of every three years and, arguably, is playing on borrowed time.

That said, it hurts to think of the Big Hurt gone--he brough some power to the team that had been absent in the post-Giambi years. I'll never forget his clutch dongs in Game One of the ALDS (did I just write "clutch dongs"?).

Fuck Big Frank. If he just wants to cash in to play for a perennial loser, that's his business. At this point of his career, I would think Frank would want a World Series championship more than anything, but I guess not. Frank was a bargain at $500,000 but a money pit at $23 million. On to the next Billy Beane career resurrection project. Mark Mulder, anyone?
