Lil Albertsons ripped to shreds
The former little Albertsons on J and 48th streets finally is being ripped to shreds.
Last week, a couple dumpsters appeared in the parking lot, and beginning this week they began tearing down the facade, which I always thought was cool. Last summer I shot some black and white photographs, which I'll try to print and post this month.
I hated that grocery store but it was always convenient for water, lighter and beer runs during the late evenings.
I also have a fond memory of a certain psychedelic trip where I was biking back from East Portal Park and suddenly was transfixed by the sign that shoots out above the entrance like a tidal wave.
Well, the tidal-wave sign is being ripped down as you read this. There's something tragic about the lovely curve ripped naked, exposing the two-by-fours and steel beams within.
Dommage.
I can promise you this: If a fucking Rite Aid goes in at that location, I'm going to go ape shit.

go apeshit!
that or a walgreens....
Actually, I heard yesterday that the Rite Aid is going in in the old Midtown Albertsons' location, and that a Whole Foods will be going in at the location on J and 48 streets. I'm going to call Councilman Cohn today to try to find out.
personally i'm rooting for a Toys R Us
Or a giant steak house with nary a vegetarian option. Call it "Chaps my hide Steakhouse." The logo could be a fat cowboy with his ass hanging out of leather pants?
I see $$$$.
If you call Steve Cohn could you please ask him to reverse those plans because a certain much-loved local blogger needs a grocery store near her house? Tell him if he doesn't make it so that she will go apeshit.
