cha ya--we need vegan japanese food in sacramento

so i ate at this place in the mission called cha ya and it's just too overwhelming.

why? because typically, as a veg, when i eat out i have like, well, maybe ONE option, typically eggplant, and typically uninspired.

so when you go to a place like cha ya in s.f. (there's also one in berkeley) and you have a 81/2 by 11 inch menu, front and back, loaded with all vegan options, you pretty much can't help nutting yourself in excitement.

we tried soba, udon, some sushi and some tempura. all of it looked great. my soba had a nice house-made broth and didn't skimp on the veggies. the wheat noodles were of a nice texture. my bro's tempura was killer; a great batter. annie's udon, i imagine, was tasty, and caity's sushi was so, as well.

we went back the next day for a late lunch (3pm) but it was closed from 230-530. boo! i often make veg sushi at home but having a place like this that's affordable ($6 for udon), modest (people shit on the decor but i was fine with it) and fun (like i said, y'will nut ya self) would be great here downtown. lord knows there's too many fucking fish and rice places already.
