Beaujolais and bull's eyes
I had my first and only bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau this week. Acidic with a overwhelming fruity taste.
I always like BJN in France because they give you free wine at the grocery store (!) so you can get hammered and shop, and then that evening all the young 18 year olds take over the streets, get knackered then break bottles all over town. It's crazy 'cause it literally rains empty bottles; I can't imagine this in, say, the "Handle District."
I never understood why California vineyards don't get rid of their young, cheap wine the way the French do (and the Italians with Novello), but oh well. It's mostly the shwag of red wine, so no great loss. When I lived in France, I pretty much threw darts everyday after school at the local pub. I played last night at the Hilltop Tavern (the have NFL Network) for the first time in years. I can't throw worth a damn, but I'm going to set up my board this weekend if anyone wants to come over and play cricket.
