Take care of your balls

This announcement by the MLB feels a bit ridiculous. Baseball has contacted team owners and is requiring them to keep balls in a 70-degree, 50-percent humidity environment upon receipt from the manufacturer.

I kind of think this is over the top, but the article does point out that since the Colorado Rockies employed a humidor for their balls, the runs-scored average at Coors Field went down over 30 percent.

This change no doubt benefits teams like the A's, especially because they play in Arlington, Texas, quite often, and the Rangers are the top-scoring team in MLB. Good call, baseball!
