monday roundup
a lot of people are laughing at spielberg's remarks during an interview on sunday. i can't say i disagree: if he wants to make films like capote or good night, and good luck, then why not just do it? sure beats a three hour lecture by tony kushner on why revenge killing is bad. (calm down db.)
have you seen the new film template at chicago reader? did anyone see a prarie home companion?
fx feeney of la weekly is writing a taschen book on michael mann. feeney's seen a rough cut of miami vice and says it's unfortunate that the film has the baggage of the television series. perhaps there's more to the film than speed-boat chases set to audioslave?
not only have the nba finals sucked so far, but i'm getting real sick of those cars spots. fucking talking race cars, bullshit suv jokes--maybe i'm just pissed that, in this day and age of peak oil, pixar made a film that glorifies the automobile. i haven't seen the film, so maybe they deconstruct the auto myth. who knows.
