miami flak

do you think universal studios budgeted miami vice to include money for an associate-press plant? i can't stand when supposedly legit news sources, the ap, run stories like this, which are only newsworthy in so far as there being a big-time hollywood film on the horizon.

colin farrell and jamie foxx will host a THREE FUCKING HOUR miami vice tv special, including the full, original two-hour pilot of the tv show. i posted earlier this month an excerpt from the mv pilot set to phil collins' "in the air tonight." the best part of this clip is the domestic "chatter," or dialogue, by the mother, a sequence where she reprimands her son's improper use of dinner-table utensils.

if i ever write a script, it'll have numerous scenes of moms yelling at kids at the dinner table. i'll try to incorporate someone being held hostage, too, no doubt!

According to the article, suburban sprawl got the best of the cocaine trade. "They used to drive Ferraris and Porsches. ... Now they drive Camrys. They've gone from the penthouse to the suburbs," said a former miami federal prosecutor. they really go all out at the ap to shine the shit--shameless.

speaking of which, this new article from 'cahiers du cinema' points out the common elements of directors michael mann and m. night shyamalan. i haven't read it yet, but the topic is, ostensibly, a bit of a stretch.
