washington to texas

Fuck man! Perhaps I'm also reading this story incorrectly, but it looks as if longstanding Oakland bench coach Ron Washington will be the manager for the Texas Rangers next season. Ugg.

Big deal. Texas still won't have any pitching, and they'll still suck. The A's will be fine without Washington. He was a good coach, but it's not like he was the glue holding the whole thing together.

Dude, I think you underestimate the balance that Ron Wa brings to the team. He's universally liked, plus places an emphasis on infield fundamentals that I don't think any other A's coach can replicate. This is not only a huge loss, but I also was hoping that Billy Beane would select Ron Wa for the manager position. Major bummer!

How's that going to improve the Rangers pitching staff? Washington will be a fine manager, but I have the feeling Beane wants to go with a young turk type.

Good defense good pitching makes.

Not if the ball sails over the fence. Washington was a great coach, no one denies it. But he was never the engine that made the team run. Texas is going to suck balls next year, and there's nothing he or anyone else can do about it.

Probably. I hope you're right. Did you read that Art Howe likely will be their bench coach?

That's an interesting dynamic. It's good that Art Howe is getting back into baseball - that Mets contract he signed must be running out soon.
