vegan tamales and fantasy basket

last night, the editor of midtown monthly prepared a nice southwestern meal for some of us writers and such. (for the record, we had stuffed peppers, cilantro rice and housemade tamales, dessert, a bottle of '99 bourdeaux grand cru and a bottle of '02 syrah from near healdsburg (?).)

this got me thinking about making some vegan tamales. then i found this fun little blog from washington. i think i'm going to try to make some over the three-day weekend.

i was doing very well in my bball league, curated by jana, but now with injuries to the net's krstic, denver's camby and toronto's bosh, i've been struggling. here are the standings:

1. who let the dogs out: 69
2. perfect strangers: 67
3. hazeltown ballhounds: 62
4. jazz hands: 61
5. goody player: 60
6. yellow boat: 56
7. singapore slings: 52
8. curtis park mayhem: 47
9. hong kong cavaliers: 42
10. the joint chiefs: 36

i really need a solid point guard. i tried trading vince carter for tj ford (no go!) and marion for nash (ixnay!), which i both thought were very fair trades. denied! i'm not too worried and should be in the top two once all my dudes are healthy. and fantasy tips out there?
